Doug Shepherd has been immersed in hockey his entire life, building a career that spans from championship-winning player to NHLPA Certified Player Agent and elite development coach.

A graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and former Assistant Captain of the RPI Men’s Hockey Team, Doug enjoyed a highly successful career at the Junior A, NCAA Division I, and professional levels. As a player, he captured two CJHL (now CCHL) Championship rings, earned recognition as an NCAA Academic All-American, competed in multiple ECAC Championship tournaments, and experienced the challenge of professional hockey across both North America and Europe.

Following his playing career, Doug transitioned into scouting and player development roles with the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets, the University of Prince Edward Island Men’s Program, and the AHL’s Manitoba Moose. Since 2015, he has built a second career as an NHLPA Certified Player Agent with Achieve Sports Management, where he has successfully negotiated millions of dollars’ worth of contracts for professional athletes.

In addition, Doug has worked as a skating and development coach for over a decade, training and refining the skills of some of the NHL’s top stars. His coaching blends technical expertise, professional insight, and a passion for helping athletes reach their full potential.

At 23 Hockey, Doug leads programming with the same commitment and drive that have defined his career, offering players at every level—from beginners to pros—the tools to elevate their game both on and off the ice.
